Position OverviewEquipment Operator is responsible for controlling and maintaining heavy machinery and equipment, ensuring safety and efficiency on construction sites.

Job Duties And Responsibilities- Operate heavy equipment safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance: clean the job site, conduct regular inspections, lubricate machinery, and perform general maintenance.
- Follow safety protocols, adhere to all safety regulations and workplace standards, obey traffic laws, and actively participate in weekly safety meetings.
- Load and unload materials or equipment as required.
- Promptly report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, incidents, defects, accidents, or violations to supervisors.
- Collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently and on schedule while maintaining a professional and courteous attitude toward co‑workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Willingness to travel and work away from home when required.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Report to the assigned job site in proper work attire and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
- Wear PPE, steel‑toed footwear, and safety glasses.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience operating or working around heavy equipment.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- CDL preferred.
- Ability to pass pre‑employment screening and testing.
- Strict adherence to safety requirements, procedures, and PPE policies.
The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met in Construction Operations to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Work outdoors on a job site, often in extreme weather conditions for extended hours.
- Exposure to high levels of noise, dirt, grease, and dust typical of construction sites.
- Regular interaction with heavy equipment and moving machinery.
- Handling substances such as form oil, grease, curing compounds, gasoline, diesel fuel, asphalt, and concrete.
- Frequent walking on uneven surfaces, natural ground, and slopes in varying weather conditions, and regular exposure to wet, humid, airborne particles, extreme heat or cold.
- Occasional exposure to vibration.
- Noise level usually quiet but may require protective equipment at some facilities.
- Language skills: read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; hear and speak effectively to customers or employees.
- Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; compute rates, ratios, and percentages; interpret graphs.
- Reasoning ability: solve practical problems, interpret instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
- Vision: color, close, distance, peripheral, depth, and focus perception.
- Work at heights, climbing ladders, scaffolds, and stair towers with narrow steps and passageways.
- Perform walking, standing, sitting, bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, crawling, crouching, and lifting.
- Continuously sit and/or stand for an eight‑hour shift on uneven surfaces.
- Use hands to handle, feel, reach with arms.
- Carry, lift, push, and pull up to 50 lb without assistance.
- Operate equipment under extreme temperatures for extended hours.
- Work a flexible schedule based on project needs and demands.
