Overview
We are looking for a technician to receive service calls from the Service Resource Center, diagnose equipment or system malfunctions, and perform repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and other building safety products at customer sites. The role requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to follow troubleshooting procedures, and the capacity to work independently and on-call.
Responsibilities- Receive service calls, contact customer representatives, and ascertain equipment/system problems.
- Diagnose problems and perform service and repairs on electronic fire alarm systems and related building systems.
- Follow prescribed troubleshooting procedures and refer to technical manuals, part manuals, change notices, bulletins, and modification notices.
- Service, troubleshoot, and install fire & life safety systems, including Simplex Grinnell.
- Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, specifications, software, schematics, and operational product manuals.
- Exhibit excellent customer service skills by communicating with district staff and customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Complete service acknowledgements with proper coding via communication devices.
- Obtain customer signatures upon completion of service call assignments.
- Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation.
- Help train or mentor others on the service team.
- Provide high‑level service, help solve building inefficiencies, and resolve service‑related items.
- Perform panel repair/reprogramming, device replacement/repair, low‑voltage circuit troubleshooting, and system testing.
- Organize technical resources and ensure efficient execution of all assigned tasks.
- Complete and submit all required documentation in a timely manner.
- Work on‑call and after‑hours when required by customer needs.
- Provide recommendations and quotes to support solutions and upselling opportunities.
- 3+ years of experience with fire alarm, access control, security intrusion, sound, and communications systems.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.
- Good working knowledge of computers.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Capability to perform physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50‑70 lbs and working in ladders, scaffolding, and high‑lift equipment up to 40 feet.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and overnight travel if required.
- High level of customer service and safety guideline adherence.
- Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and quick learning ability.
- Valid driver’s license with a record meeting company requirements.
- Retention of licenses required by national, state, and local codes.

$23.08 – $35.79 (to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities).
