General Summary of Duties
Under the supervision of a higher classified employee, performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled mechanical and preventative maintenance activities on KCRC vehicles and equipment. Duties include cleaning, repair and replacement of tire and parts, and servicing fuels and lubricants in accordance with established maintenance program. May assist a higher classified Equipment Specialist with more complex mechanical activities. May serve as a small engine mechanic performing major and minor repairs and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
Educationaland Experience Requirements
high school diploma or equivalent; with special or technical training preferred. One year of progressively more responsible mechanical maintenance experience or equivalent.
Necessary Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
basic analytic, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills. Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals. Welding competency desired. Professional development encouraged. General computerized literacy includes diagnostic tools an an aptitude for learning new software.
Other Requirementsa valid Michigan Class A Commercial Driver's license (CDL) with an "N" Tank endorsement and successful completion of a physical examination and substance abuse testing. Fork-lift, scissor-lift, overhead crane permits. Responsible for the purchase and maintenance of personal hand tools.
