Skilled Maintenance Worker – Evening Shift (United States of America)

Hours:

2nd shift – Monday – Friday, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm.

Summary

Use mechanical, technical, physical and communication skills to maintain a safe, reliable and comfortable health care environment. Carries out daily corrective and preventive maintenance functions and stays abreast of current technological issues to positively contribute to patient care.

Job Responsibilities
  • Perform plumbing and pipe fitting in accordance with applicable standards.
  • Carry out general facility maintenance to ensure the physical, mechanical and environmental integrity of the plant and associated equipment.
  • Perform basic electrical services under the guidance of a licensed electrician, such as repairing lighting circuits, troubleshooting motor controls and changing ballasts.
  • Maintain HVAC/R systems, chillers, air conditioners, cooling towers, power plant, boilers, steam traps, heat exchangers and condensate receivers/pumps through monitoring and preventive maintenance to ensure maximum safety and comfort.
  • Work safely in all situations to protect self and others.
  • Document work, follow departmental policies and procedures, and meet continuous performance standards.
  • Carry out upper‑level corrective and preventive maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, rebuilding and replacing medical gas outlets, testing, monitoring and logging medical gas systems and equipment, rough and finish carpentry tasks, fabricating new walls, installing doors and hardware, constructing cabinets and counters, calibrating pneumatic controls, repairing hydraulic stretchers and electric beds, repairing and calibrating electronic monitoring devices, welding, soldering, brazing, replacing single and polyphase motors up to 480V, performing masonry and concrete work, maintaining closed‑loop water systems, troubleshooting multi‑belt fan systems, testing and chemically treating closed‑loop water systems, monitoring emergency generators, testing and cleaning swimming pools, and performing preventive maintenance as assigned.

Essential Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of experience in an industrial or commercial setting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Ability to requisition equipment and materials for installations and repairs.
  • Basic computer skills to answer e‑mail, research on the internet and operate building automation.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Trade‑school education and/or experience in plumbing, masonry, carpentry, painting, electrical work, refrigeration, air conditioning or related fields.
