7am-3:30pm with variable weekends and holidays

Position Summary

Maintains, installs, and repairs plumbing equipment to ensure reliable and safe operation of the hospital plumbing distribution system.

Essential Functions
  • Assists in planning, installation, and maintenance of hospital water and drain systems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on equipment according to established procedures and guidelines, documenting results to comply with regulatory accreditation and licensing standards.
  • Performs corrective maintenance including diagnosing problems using electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or other sciences, documenting results to comply with regulatory accreditation and licensing standards.
  • Interacts with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems.
  • Completes daily time sheet in AIMS to track work orders, preventative maintenance, and miscellaneous work done.
  • Determines need for replacement parts and supplies and orders as appropriate.
  • Coordinates and monitors support efforts with outside service organizations when necessary to ensure appropriateness and documentation.
  • Maintains age-specific safety precautions: no small, sharp objects or tools that may injure patients or visitors are left out; hallways and pathways are free of debris, equipment, tools and liquid spills.
  • Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision making, working to accomplish team objectives and projects, and soliciting feedback about one's effectiveness as a team member.
  • Continually improves processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Minimum: A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
  • Preferred:
    An Associate's degree (two-year program or two to three years of college) or equivalent formal training.
Credentials / Licensure
  • Minimum: A current plumber’s license
  • Preferred: A current plumber’s license
Experience
  • Minimum:
    One year plumbing experience
  • Preferred:
    Five or more years experience, hospital experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Working knowledge of and ability to use basic hand tools and test equipment specific to the field.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken.
