2nd/3rd Shift Diesel Fleet Mechanic Shift

  • 2nd/3rd shift schedule (3pm – 1am with some flexibility)
  • 4 day work week – Monday-Thursday

Job Summary

The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on company vehicles and equipment. This role ensures the fleet remains safe, operational, and compliant with safety regulations while minimizing downtime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on company trucks and trailers
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment to identify mechanical, electrical, or safety issues.
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, suspension, and other components of trucks and trailers
  • Use computerized diagnostic tools and testing equipment to troubleshoot problems.
  • Maintain accurate service and repair records for each vehicle
  • Ensure vehicles meet DOT, OSHA, and company safety standards
  • Communicate with fleet manager about maintenance needs and repair timelines
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Required Skills
  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic abilities
  • Knowledge of diesel engines
  • Familiarity with vehicle electrical systems and hydraulic systems
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Welding experience
Typical Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Vocational training or automotive/diesel technology certification preferred
  • ASE certification preferred
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Own tool set
  • Trailer Maintenance experience a plus
