Field/Service Technician
Role Summary
Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Service Technician will be primarily responsible for field service, troubleshooting and documentation in the Merlo Energy assigned territories. These services would include start-up, commissioning and testing of steam, air, and hot water equipment. Also, provide sales support functions during non‑active field service work and promote scheduled services.
Key Responsibilities- Field service work in assigned territories, including:
- Steam trap testing
- Start-up and commissioning of hot water generation and mix stations
- Troubleshooting of pressure‑reducing stations, humidification systems, and condensate systems
- Fluent reporting and documentation required by customers and manufacturers
- Use of measurement and testing instruments and tools such as DVOM, AMP meters, pressure and temperature instruments, software calibration and interface devices
- Work in an industrial setting (chemical plants, refineries, power plants, various industrial and commercial complexes) safely
- Effectively manage time for scheduling service work while coordinating with Merlo Energy staff to meet market demands
- Be available for overnight travel as required for field service work and training
- Provide sales‑assist role with outside sales where technical assistance may be required
- Back up inside and outside sales when not in the field

What you’ll need:
- Work Experience: Entry level (1 year of field service experience or 2+ years of steam or plumbing experience preferred)
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Analytics/Computer
Skills:
Knowledge of software‑based tools in the industry; understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Office); mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills - Organization
Skills:
Excellent work ethic; good verbal, time management and communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team - Cross‑functional
Skills:
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under the direction of the Sales Manager; work well with others; ability to explain your work and/or train others - Communication

- Travel Requirements: 50% in assigned territories; overnight travel required
- Driver’s License: Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
