Schedule: Full-Time, may include evenings, nights, alternating weekends, and holidays as determined by event schedule and operational need

At Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, audiovisual technology helps transform events, programs, and gatherings into memorable experiences. As an Audiovisual Specialist, you’ll combine technical AV expertise with outstanding guest service to ensure events run smoothly from initial planning through the final presentation.

You’ll serve as a primary technical resource for events, working directly with guests to understand their needs, coordinating closely with internal Hospitality and Events teams, and setting up, operating, and troubleshooting audiovisual systems throughout Meijer Gardens.

Great audiovisual support is about more than equipment—it’s about creating a seamless experience for the people using it. In this role, you’ll help translate guest needs into effective technical solutions while providing reliable, professional support before and during events.

Your work will directly support the quality of events and experiences throughout Meijer Gardens while helping other teams make the most effective use of our audiovisual resources.

• Serve as the primary technical support for assigned events from setup through completion.
• Conduct pre-event sound checks and respond to technical needs throughout events.
• Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and support audiovisual equipment and systems.

• Serve as a primary point of contact for guests regarding their audiovisual needs.
• Meet and communicate with guests to understand event requirements and recommend appropriate AV solutions.
• Deliver responsive, professional, guest-centered service to both internal and external guests.

• Partner closely with the Hospitality team to coordinate audiovisual requirements for events.
• Assist with planning AV setups and determining appropriate equipment and technical needs.
• Coordinate AV details to help ensure smooth and successful event execution.

• Work directly with hospitality guests to identify and communicate available audiovisual services.
• Support the sale of AV services through guest conversations and in-person meetings.
• Balance technical recommendations with guest needs and the overall event experience.

• Maintain current knowledge of AV equipment, techniques, software, and industry best practices.
• Provide occasional audiovisual training and guidance to designated staff.
• Support audiovisual equipment and technical needs throughout the organization.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Approximately three years of experience as an AV Technician preferred.
• Demonstrated strength in customer service, teamwork, sales, and project management.
• Working knowledge of audiovisual equipment and the software used to operate AV systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to translate technical information for guests and colleagues.

• Info Comm certification preferred.

• Provide audiovisual support within a nationally recognized cultural institution.
• Work across a variety of events, spaces, and guest experiences rather than in a single static AV environment.
• Combine hands-on technical work with guest consultation, event planning, and hospitality.
• Collaborate with teams throughout Meijer Gardens.
• Build expertise across audiovisual systems, event production, and guest-facing technical service.
