Level 2 Cable Installer

Hours:

Primarily 1st Shift, with occasional 2nd Shift and overtime depending on project requirements

Pay Range: $22 - $25/hour (Based on Experience)

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Level 2 Cable Installer to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is designed for technicians who have a solid foundation in structured cabling and can perform installations with minimal supervision. Level 2 Installers are expected to handle more complex cabling projects, troubleshoot issues in the field, and help mentor entry-level technicians.

This is not a role for someone looking to simply complete tasks and go home. Success requires technical competence, attention to detail, accountability, and the ability to solve problems independently while maintaining high-quality installation standards.

Key Responsibilities Install, route, terminate, and test structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling

Perform cable pulls and pathway installations through ceilings, walls, conduit, cable trays, and raised flooring systems

Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, network diagrams, and project specifications

Complete cable terminations and ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements

Utilize cable certification and testing equipment to verify system performance

Diagnose and troubleshoot cabling, connectivity, and installation issues

Maintain accurate documentation, labeling, and testing records

Coordinate daily activities with project leads and customers on-site Assist in training and mentoring Level 1 Installers Ensure projects are completed on schedule while maintaining quality standards

Operate lifts, ladders, and job-site equipment safely

Adhere to all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines

Travel to customer locations throughout Michigan as required

Required Qualifications High school diploma or GEDValid driver's license with a clean driving record3+ years of structured cabling, low-voltage, telecommunications, or related installation experience

Experience independently terminating and testing copper cabling systems

Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings

Strong understanding of structured cabling standards and best practices

Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work from ladders, lifts, and elevated work platforms

Comfortable working in construction, industrial, and commercial environments

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Demonstrated reliability, professionalism, and strong work ethic

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with fiber optic installation, termination, and testingOSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification

Experience with access control, security, surveillance, or audiovisual cabling systems

Familiarity with network infrastructure and basic networking concepts

Experience mentoring junior installers

Experience operating boom lifts and scissor lifts
