Role Summary

Reporting to the Valve Automation Manager, the Valve Automation Service Technician is responsible for supporting the materials management function of the fabrication department. Service technicians and fabricators are essential to the overall operation of the business. While specific daily tasks can vary depending on the current workload, a Valve Automation Service Technician’s primary responsibility will be providing evaluation and repair of automated and control valves, assembling new automated and control valves, and traveling to customer locations to provide service in the field as needed.

Work You Will Do
  • Assemble and test automated and control valves
  • Assemble product to specific drawings and standards
  • Troubleshoot automated and control valve problems and perform necessary repairs
  • Respond and provide service in the field as needed and required
  • Certify backflow preventer test kits
  • Schedule work order assemblies with salespeople and shipments with the shipping department
  • Perform basic wiring of switches, solenoids, position indicators, and control devices
  • Perform product quality testing
  • Paint product
  • Read job blueprints
  • Participate in safety initiatives as assigned
  • Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards
  • Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, crane, etc.
  • Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of shop facilities
  • Check assigned equipment for proper operation/functionality and communicate problems to Shop Manager
  • Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures
  • Perform other fabrication tasks as assigned

What You’ll Need
  • Work Experience:

    Entry Level
  • Education:

    High School diploma or GED
  • Analytics/Computer

    Skills:

    Ability to use standard office equipment, including but not limited to computerized bar code scanner, printer, and standard warehouse equipment/tools/machines/vehicles; basic math and reasoning skills
  • Organization

    Skills:

    Excellent work ethic, good verbal and communication skills; ability to work independently
  • Cross-functional skills:
    Ability to work effectively in a team environment and through the direction of a Valve Automation Manager
