Kent School Services Network (KSSN) brings health and human services into the school building to serve children and families. The initiative aims to increase support for students, families, and schools; increase access to health, mental health, and community resources; foster parent and community engagement; promote opportunities that support students’ educational, social, and emotional development; and allow teachers and principals to focus on education by addressing non‑education issues.

The Site Team Clinician meets the mental health needs of children and families by providing in‑home or outpatient therapy and/or connecting families to other mental health resources that best meet their needs. These issues may include depression, anxiety, child abuse effects, self‑harm, learning difficulties, eating disorders, phobias, aggression, and other behavioral concerns.

The Site Team Clinician provides both outpatient and home‑based services, acts as a Network 180 Access center for referrals, and uses group therapy as needed. The clinician may also collaborate with the school’s Attendance Team and Community School Leadership Team.

• Assess, counsel, educate, advocate for, and support referred children and families.
• Complete all required agency, CMH, and other paperwork within deadlines per program and contract requirements.
• Meet clients and families in non‑traditional settings such as homes, restaurants, or public places.
• Complete the minimum required contacts per month as set by contract and program requirements, working closely with the KSSN Community School Coordinator.
• Complete non‑billable contact hours per week in the school building per KSSN contract.
• Provide direct services including intake, assessment, individual/family therapy, and crisis interventions, with timely documentation in the client record.
• Manage a mixed caseload of outpatient, outpatient bundle, case management, trauma‑focused CBT (as certified), and home‑based services, maintaining monthly unit expectations per contract.
• Provide services both on‑site at the school and off‑site to include the client’s home support network.
• Maintain monthly contact with all parents/guardians of each client.
• Prepare initial treatment plans, updates, authorizations, quarterly reports, and discharge summaries within required deadlines.
• Participate in family education, training, and support group activities when needed, using a variety of treatment models, skills, and interventions tailored to client and family needs.
• Attend required case‑related activities such as school conferences and court hearings.
• Attend agency team meetings, cooperate with other departments, and complete agency documents (expense vouchers, ADP weekly time records, PTO, Outlook calendar, monthly data, etc.).
• Rotate the 24‑hour, seven‑day on‑call shift with fellow Site Team Clinicians and Behavioral Health Staff. While on call:
  • Cover the on‑call phone Friday to Friday, 24 hours.
  • Remain within 1 hour of Network 180.
  • Remain drug and alcohol free.
  • Be accessible, maintaining flexible hours, seven days a week.
  • Arrange for a team member or supervisor to be available if unavailable.
  • Work at least 40 hours per week prior to requesting compensatory time.
  • Assist with duties such as speeches, public relations, recruitment, special committees, task forces, or agency committees as assigned.
  • Complete a minimum of 24 child and family focused training hours per calendar year.
  • Follow DABSJ personnel policies as amended.

• Master’s degree in social work or a related field.
• Licensed to practice therapy in Michigan or actively working toward licensure.
• Strong knowledge of common diagnoses and treatments for school‑aged children, with skills to facilitate positive change in a school culture.
