What Your Role Makes a Difference
  • Obtain and retain knowledge pertaining to the sexual offender treatment program, and implement components on the job;
  • Actively participate in assigned activities and encourage positive interaction and growth amongst residents;
  • Attend bi-monthly meetings with supervisor to discuss job performance, issues, or concerns;
  • Follow treatment guidelines by intervening in a caring and consistent manner when needed;
  • Promptly conduct the nonviolent crisis prevention intervention (CPI) procedure when necessary;
  • Oversee residents’ daily routines including meals, study time, outings, bedtime, assigned jobs, and other activities;
  • Provide residential advocacy by presenting social history at staff meetings and reviewing criminal sexual conduct and history to identify issues for treatment;
  • Provide residential updates at staff meetings on level status, placement date, length of stay, progress, and goals;
  • Perform essential functions without operating a motor vehicle;
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule, including ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays;
  • Essential job responsibilities may vary based on program/department needs;
  • Participation in Bethany-sponsored events may be requested;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
What Will Make You Successful
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Minimum of one year of child welfare experience working with children and/or adolescents;
  • Prior experience working with individuals with sexual disorders, preferred;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to provide excellent and compassionate customer service;
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality;
  • Reliable with time-sensitive deadlines and tasks;
  • Ability to work with special needs youth in a residential setting;
  • Ability to serve as a positive role model;
  • Ability to nurture and provide structure, support, and respect to others;
  • Must pass required medical examinations and have the physical ability to fulfill essential job functions, including physical restraints of a resident;
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team;
  • Availability for night shifts, weekend shifts, and holiday coverage;
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany;
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Must pass annual TB test and document preference to Hepatitis immunization;
  • Must show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route, including Varicella, MMR, TDaP, and Influenza as applicable;
