Make an impact as a School Social Worker in a vibrant middle school environment near Dearborn, MI! This contract opportunity runs from August 2024 through June 2026, with a flexible three-day-per-week schedule. You’ll collaborate with a dedicated support team, including an experienced social worker on site to serve as a resource, especially for those newer to the field.
You’ll play a key role in supporting students navigating the complexities of adolescence. While some students exhibit aggressive behaviors, the majority of the caseload involves traditional middle school needs. This is an ideal position for a compassionate, adaptable professional eager to foster positive connections and advocate for student well-being in a supportive setting.
Qualifications & Desired
Experience:
- Valid 310 approval or preliminary approval to serve as a School Social Worker (SSW)
- Experience in school settings preferred, especially with middle school populations
- Understanding and ability to implement appropriate interventions for students with behavioral challenges
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral needs
- Develop and implement behavior and intervention plans in conjunction with school staff
- Engage with families and outside agencies as needed for comprehensive student support
- Maintain consistent documentation and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
- Work closely with the school’s full-time social worker for guidance and peer support
