Job Summary
Strategic direction and general compensation design, planning, and implementation of provider compensation plans. Acts as consultant to senior management on compensation policies, programs, and issues. Provides routine reports and support to physicians and stakeholders. Educates and answers questions regarding changes to compensation methodologies and regulations. Oversees administration of approved provider compensation plans and directs professional staff performing activities related to compensation.
EssentialFunctions Compensation Design, Implementation and Communication
- Lead the process for developing, transitioning, evolving, and implementing the provider compensation model (including base pay, variable pay, and incentive pay).
- Direct development of communications associated with provider compensation activities.
- Develop, prepare, and update policies and procedures affecting provider compensation.
- Prepare, facilitate, administer, and document provider compensation‑related meetings, committees, and forums.
- Provide oversight for the financial modeling and calculation of provider compensation and incentive plans.
- Direct analytical support and reporting related to management and maintenance of the provider compensation plan.
- Ensure data management incorporates appropriate and validated source systems with data integrity.
- Maintain confidentiality of data sources.
- Direct the annual salary process for physicians.
- Maintain benchmark data for use in provider compensation.
- Develop redundancies to validate and verify compensation reconciliations.
- Collaborate with legal counsel and leadership to ensure observance of organizational policies, Stark law, and Anti‑Kickback legislation.
- Serve as subject matter expert on rules, regulations, and emerging trends impacting physician compensation arrangements.
- Work with Internal Audit on plan administration review.
- Manage relationships with external provider compensation vendors and consultants.
- Counsel leadership on effective administration within compensation guidelines.
- Direct activities of professional staff, providing direction and support of direct reports.
- Establish work standards; select, train, develop, and evaluate direct reports.
- Provide exceptional service to customers by anticipating needs and communicating consistently.
- Support decision making related to compensation, including recommendations and documentation.
- Serve as primary point of contact for physician compensation and contract administration.
- Demonstrate professional behavior and represent the organization’s mission and vision.
- Compile and submit provider compensation data for salary surveys and analyze competitive position.
- Manage provider salary administration programs, including market pricing and job grades.
- Understand and share trends in the provider compensation market.
- Conduct market analysis such as community needs assessments and feasibility studies.
- Validate recruitment needs and develop contracting parameters for new hires.
- Manage the annual provider salary planning budget and review process.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 years of relevant finance, human resources, or compensation experience
- 3 years of relevant leadership experience
- Demonstrated finance leadership or equivalent public accounting experience
- Master’s Degree
