Position will follow hybrid schedule:
Monday-Wednesday in Grand Rapids MI office, Thursday-Friday remote.

What You’ll be Doing:
  • Codes, tests, and implements programs; develops system documentation according to SAFe Agile principles and industry standards.
  • Performs unit tests, monitors results, and takes required corrective actions as needed.
  • Assists in the deployment of applications.
  • Optimizes and enhances applications and interfaces to meet SLA/functional requirements.
  • Develops and integrates AI-powered application features on the Microsoft Azure stack (Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry), including prompt design, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) components, and API/tool integrations with enterprise data sources.
  • Applies AI-assisted development practices - including Git Hub Copilot, spec-driven development, and context/prompt engineering - to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and support test and documentation activities.
  • Provides technical consultation in new systems development, new package system evaluations and enhancement of existing systems.
  • Assists product owners in systems analysis and creation or updating of documentation for all business processes.
  • Interfaces with the Product Owner and IT partners to develop acceptance criteria for features and user stories and ensures acceptance criteria are met.
  • Works within the SAFe Agile framework and utilizes ITIL best practices.
  • Participates with other IT members, customers and other stakeholders in new product reviews, tests and pilots.
  • Performs feasibility studies/proofs of concept to evaluate solutions.
  • Participates in structured walkthroughs, secure coding, and technical reviews ensuring application coding and design follows secure coding and design principles.
  • Assists in the production support and maintenance of applications in accordance with ITIL as needed.
  • Actively participates in all team Agile ceremonies.
  • This job role may also provide facilitation of activities for Agile teams within Meijer ITS as acting Scrum Master.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent.
  • Any SAFe certification (SSM, SASM, SA, SPC, SPMPO).
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Prefer experience in systems development and programming.
  • Familiarity with business systems.
  • Experience as a team member on project teams in a cross-functional environment.
  • Experience on Agile teams is preferred.
  • Experience in design and implementation of IT solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of development tools, coding and scripting languages, SQL and testing.
  • Proficient in multiple technologies or systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of structured analysis and technical design techniques.
  • Knowledge of database management and file access methods.
  • Working knowledge of large language model (LLM) concepts - prompt engineering, embeddings, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) - with hands-on exposure to Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry, or Microsoft Copilot Studio preferred.
  • Familiarity with building AI or agentic features on the Microsoft Azure stack (Azure Functions, Azure Dev Ops CI/CD, Application Insights) and with GenAI frameworks such as Lang Chain/Lang Graph or Semantic Kernel is preferred.
  • Experience with AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., Git Hub Copilot) and modern practices such as spec-driven development and context/prompt engineering is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of agile practices in a cross-functional environment preferred.
