Job Overview

Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure (MTI) is hiring full‑time Maintenance Workers (MW). New hires start as Labourers (LAB: $42–$46 per hour) and can be promoted to the Operator (OR1–4: $48–$59 per hour) after completing training, orientation, and proficiency testing.

• Operate highway maintenance equipment, hand and power tools, and perform physical maintenance tasks.
• Operate heavy equipment during winter to clear snow and ice.
• Perform paved surface repairs, gravel road maintenance, and debris pick‑up.
• Repair signs and maintain right‑of‑way infrastructure.

• Experience with manual labour.
• Experience operating hand and power tools.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Effective verbal communication skills.

• Experience operating light or heavy‑duty equipment.
• Experience servicing or performing minor repairs on vehicles and equipment.

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Must hold a Class 5F driver’s licence without restrictions (excluding corrective lenses) and be able to upgrade to a Class 3 with air brake endorsement within six months.
• Must be physically capable of lifting and carrying up to 55 pounds, walking on rough terrain, standing and sitting for prolonged periods, climbing stairs and ladders, crouching, kneeling, bending, twisting, operating vehicles, and wearing personal protective equipment.
• Must respond to work within 30 minutes of call.
• Must be willing to work overtime as required.
