Warehouse Operations Manager Job Summary
A leading distributor in West Michigan is seeking an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager to lead all warehouse operations in a fast‑paced distribution environment. The role is responsible for driving efficiency, safety, and overall performance while overseeing a large team of warehouse associates. The Warehouse Operations Manager will encourage continuous improvement and lean initiatives while developing and implementing standard operating procedures. This individual must be a hands‑on leader who is willing to listen, learn, and build strong team buy‑in to drive operational success.
The ideal candidate is both strategic and execution‑focused, with the ability to analyze data, optimize processes, and lead teams through growth and change.
- Lead and develop a large team of warehouse associates, including Pickers, Hi‑Lo Drivers, and Packers, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Oversee daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
- Strategically allocate labor and resources based on daily operational needs.
- Drive lean initiatives and continuous improvement efforts to reduce waste and improve performance.
- Develop, implement, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor and ensure inventory accuracy (99%+), including cycle counting and system reconciliation (Agility, Epicor).
- Analyze operational data and metrics to drive decision‑making and improve results.
- Champion a safety‑first culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards and safe operation of all equipment.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse environment.
- Participate in budgeting processes and manage departmental expenses.
- Plan for long‑term operational needs, including staffing, equipment, and facility improvements.
- Step in to perform warehouse duties as needed to support the team and meet operational goals.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with leadership to align warehouse operations with company objectives.
- Serve as a catalyst for change by introducing process improvements and gaining team buy‑in for new initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 5+ years of warehouse management experience.
- Proven experience leading and developing large teams.
- Strong background in lean principles and continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change and gain team buy‑in.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a data‑driven mindset.
- Experience operating warehouse equipment (Hi‑Lo, etc.).
- High school diploma or GED required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Ability to work in a hands‑on, fast‑paced warehouse environment.
- Experience with warehouse management systems such as Agility and Epicor.
- Experience in a distribution environment, preferably within construction materials.
Schedule:
Full‑time, Monday–Friday
Pay: $85,000–$95,000 per year with incentive opportunity.
Physical Requirements
Work Environment: 100% on‑site (office/warehouse setting)
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform office duties and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
