Job Overview

Grand Itasca Clinic & Hospital, a part of Fairview Health Services, is currently seeking an enthusiastic LPN/MA to join our team! Grand Itasca’s LPNs/MA’s work closely with providers to deliver quality patient care and service by maintaining patient flow, escorting patients through the clinic, identifying patient needs, collecting/verifying information, administering medications, updating electronic medical records, implementing methods as directed to improve care and the patient experience, maintaining exam/treatment rooms, ordering related supplies and displaying original thinking & creativity while working effectively as an important team member.

Job Summary

Consistent with the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act and/or Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), the role will provide patient care “through the understanding of nursing standards, recognized by the Minnesota State Board of Nursing.” Care will be rendered under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice nurse, physician or physician assistant. The duties are equivalent across units, with the assigned unit directing specific job duties to meet patient care needs.

Job Duties
  • The Licensed Practical Nurse conducts a focused assessment through the collection and comparison of data to normal findings and the patient’s current health status, reporting changes to the appropriate licensed health care provider.
  • The Licensed Practical Nurse participates with the health care team in the development and modifications to the patient’s health plan of care or orders.
  • The Licensed Practical Nurse implements patient care interventions that are delegated, ordered or prescribed by a licensed health care provider.
  • The Licensed Practical Nurse assigns nursing activities or tasks to other licensed practical nurses.
  • The Licensed Practical Nurse assigns and monitors nursing tasks or activities that are delegated to certified medical assistants or any unlicensed personnel on the health care team.
  • Focus on patient care through the provision of safe/effective care, patient advocacy, assistance with patient evaluation to interventions and collaboration and communication with health care team members.
  • Provides health care information to patients and reviews education materials.
  • Provides input for policies and procedures.
  • Consistent with section 148.211, subdivision 1 of the Minnesota Nurse Practice Act “Accountable for the quality of care delivered, recognizes the limits of practice and competency, and performs to the level of education knowledge and skill ordinarily expected of individuals who have completed an approved LPN education program.”
  • Qualifications
  • Current LPN Minnesota state license, current Medical Assistant certification or registration required. Must maintain license/certification/registration.
  • Experience in an ambulatory health care setting is preferred.
  • Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and maintain positive working relationships.
  • BLS certification to be completed within two months of employment.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.
  • Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
