The Ninth Judicial District is seeking a Mental Health Court Coordinator for the Itasca County Treatment Court in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. This position provides professional work coordinating and supervising the activities of the Itasca County Mental Health Court.

This is a part time (20 hours per week, 0.50 FTE) grant-funded position. However, the position could become full-time (40 hours per week, 1.0 FTE) in the event of a new grant award after the current 3-year grant is concluded.

Work involves the performance of extensive planning, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring of the activities of the Treatment Court. This position works collaboratively with judges and may take part in statewide work groups and/or team meetings to promote best practices, efficiency, and effective operations on a system wide basis.

This position is supervised by the Ninth Judicial District Treatment Court Supervisor with work direction provided by the Treatment Court Judges.

This position has opportunities for a flexible work environment with some ability to work remotely. On-site work is expected.

What You Will Do

The following are examples of major job duties expected of this position:

• Plans, implements, administers, and monitors the day-to-day activities of the Mental Health Court.
• Serves on Mental Health Court teams.
• Directs and maintains an accounting and auditing system with respect to grant funds.
• Writes grant proposals; plans and prepares budgetary estimates and justifications.
• Coordinates and approves expenditures.
• Organizes and coordinates training for team members and treatment court partners such as substance abuse or mental health treatment providers.
• Maintains cooperative relationships with treatment agencies, community organizations, the Probation Department, and the Department of Human Services.
• Attends and participates in conferences, meetings, and committees as the Treatment Court representative.
• Attends case staff meetings and court hearings.
• Consults with treatment court judges on a wide range of organizational and managerial issues including, but not limited to, internal and external quality assurance and efficiency.
• Monitors and supervises Treatment Court services, including participant referrals and screening, determining the need for additional court services, and assessing appropriate services for individual participants; uses discretion in interpreting treatment court policies and procedures and completes participant case reviews, including compiling and evaluating information from other team members to inform Treatment Court team decisions.
• Facilitates community presentations, assists in docket development, promotes team integrity, develops community resources, monitors quality assurance, develops agendas, collects data, and works closely with the program evaluator.
• Serves as a liaison by representing the Treatment Court team as the point of contact for information about the Treatment Court and coordinating services for participants and the court between team members, the steering committee, and with the general public.
• Provides guidance and assistance to participants.
• Administers evaluations, reviews participant files, and may conduct initial screenings in order to identify the nature and severity of substance abuse, mental health, or other problems central to the Treatment Court.
• Prepares reports to court, state, and county agencies.
• Collaborates with judges, lawyers, police, and sheriff to coordinate programs for participants.
• Provides education and community awareness for the Treatment Courts.
