Description:
Performs a variety of tasks related to the initial determination (per established Federal and State guidelines) and on-going eligibility of clients for income maintenance programs and services (cash, food, child care assistance and medical); communicates program requirements; supports clients in achieving the highest degree of independence and in addressing barriers to self-sufficiency; interprets and implements the appropriate program to apply to each client case;
provides enrollment and assistance to managed health care enrollees; makes appropriate referrals to other community resources and/or other agency departments.

Work Hours, Work LocationWork Hours: Normal hours of work are 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, with overtime as necessary and approved.

Minimum Qualifications- High school graduate or equivalent.
- One‑year work experience in a human services agency in a position such as a Case Aide, Fraud Investigator, Child Support Officer, Financial Worker, Job Counselor or work experience determining eligibility for a federal/state/tribal public assistance program, or similar work experience.
- Two years of work experience in one of the following: a County working as Human Service Support Specialist, or either clinic or hospital billing, or determining eligibility for health programs, loans, financial assistance, unemployment or other similar benefits.
- Associate’s degree or higher AND one year of work experience involving customer service, interviewing, math computations, and completion of forms or eliciting information from the public.
- Four years of work experience involving customer service, interviewing, math computations, and completion of forms or eliciting information from the public.
- Diploma in the technical college Human Services Eligibility Worker program (must attach transcript) and/or work experience with computers.
- Months of work experience as an Eligibility Specialist, Financial Worker or similar experience in a County agency.
- Months of work experience determining eligibility for a federal/state/tribal public assistance program beyond the minimum qualifications.
- Experience working with people who have disabilities (physical, developmental delays and/or major mental illness).
- Experience doing 10‑key data entry.
