Position
Description:
Prepare legal documents to establish, enforce and modify court orders for child support, medical support, child care and out-of-home placement reimbursement for clients;
Aide in the location of absent parents, interview mothers and alleged fathers in paternity cases to explain related laws, responsibilities and rights, to secure an adjudication of paternity;
Negotiate settlements with the parties, either directly or through the parties attorneys;
Testify in court proceedings, present case information with the assistance of the County Attorney or present an agreement or Stipulation in child support court.

Work HoursThe normal hours of work shall be 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, overtime as necessary and approved.

As a minimum qualification, which of the following do you have? (Work experience is the equivalent of full time, paid experience.)
- 2 years' work experience as a Child Support Officer or similar job, with responsibility for carrying out a part of child support collections
- 3 years' experience in work directly related to child support collections in a County Human Service Agency (i.e. providing support services to the child support and collections unit as that of a Legal Support Specialist or Child Support Case Aide)
- 4 years' of work experience as a Financial Worker or the equivalent (like job, different title) of a Financial Worker in a Human Services Agency (i.e. Eligibility Specialist)
- 4 years' of work experience in enforcing debt collections (i.e. adjusting the debt, calling clients to collect the debt, creating payment agreements, etc.)
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or another related human services field (must attach transcript);
- paralegal certificate AND 1 year work experience in a Child Support office OR in enforcing debt collections (i.e. adjusting the debt, calling clients to collect the debt, creating payment agreements, etc.)
