Summary
This position is located within a National Interagency Support Cache (NISC). This position involves warehousing and materials handling activities that include receiving, storing, repairing, refurbishing, and shipping supplies, equipment, and materials. Major Duties- Leads on a regular and recurring basis, leading and mentoring three or more permanent and temporary employees to achieve materials handling operations.
- Provides training and certify assigned employees in the safe operation of mechanized equipment, various forklifts and other material handling devices.
- Ensures that all items, including hazardous materials, are properly marked, tagged/labeled and in properly marked containers.
- Ensures needed plans, material, and tools are available, including obtaining needed stock from supply locations.
- Uses automated material identification equipment such as bar code wands, computer terminals, and laser scanners.
- Performs work according to instructions, time schedules, safety requirements, and standards of the occupation.
- Selects designated items for storage, build and assemble kits for storage and shipment per National standards or specifications.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or National. Males born after 12‑31‑59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.
- Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
- Must possess or be able to obtain the appropriate driver’s license to operate required equipment or vehicles before entry on duty.
- This is a drug‑testing designated position; applicant must be subject to pre‑employment and random drug testing.
- Appointment is based on a negative drug‑testing result.
- Must register with the DOT Clearinghouse as a driver at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and complete a Query Consent within 24 hours.
- Must possess or obtain forklift operator certification in accordance with OSHA standards and be able to pass an operator’s test, read traffic signs, and complete trip tickets within the first 60 days of initial employment.
- Required to attain and maintain HAZMAT handling and transportation certification in accordance with 49 CFR regulations within one year of initial employment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) within the first 12 months.
- Must pass E‑Verify employment verification check.
- Must serve a 1‑year probationary period during which fitness and continued employment will be evaluated; employment will be terminated unless certified that continued employment advances the public interest.
Final determination of the duty station will be made by the selecting official at the time of the job offer. Pay rates vary depending on location; the salary shown is for the locality pay area of El Paso, TX (RUS). See OPM.gov for additional information on pay rates.
Physical Effort:
You may be required to push, lift, and carry up to 40 pounds.
Work Environment:
May be exposed to material handling equipment, noise, fumes, dust, and other hazards associated with warehouse operations.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
Employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing while performing duties associated with their field of work.
Work Schedule:
The work may require long hours on short notice, callbacks in evenings or on weekends, work shifts of 12 hours for extended periods, holiday shifts, and/or receiving telephone calls after regular hours. The employee may be subject to fire or detail assignments in logistic support roles. This position is not eligible for telework.
