Position: Pipelayer Helper )

Reporting to the Foreman, the Pipelayer Helper supports the installation of underground water, sewer, and storm systems. Working closely with pipelayers and equipment operators, this role assists with trench preparation, pipe placement, and site clean‑up to ensure safe, productive, and accurate installation.

  • Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment.
  • Assist pipelayers with the installation of water, sanitary sewer, and storm systems.
  • Support trench preparation, including cleaning, leveling, and placing bedding material.
  • Help align and position pipes under direction of the pipelayer and excavator operator.
  • Assist with rigging, hoisting, and lowering pipe, manholes, catch basins, and structures.
  • Safely use hand and power tools for underground utility work.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including debris removal and site housekeeping.
  • Safely expose and work around live utilities.
  • Support back filling and compaction activities as required.
  • Follow all site safety requirements and company policies.
  • Support general labour tasks as needed in the trenching and pipe installation process.
What You Bring
  • 2+ years of experience working on an underground utilities (water, sewer, storm) crew.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions.
  • Willing to travel and work out of town for short, fixed‑term periods, as needed.

Note:

Pre‑employment Drug and Alcohol Testing and Fit for Work Testing will be required.
