Electric Powerline Technician

Step into a crucial role at ATCO Electric as a Powerline Technician in Grande Prairie, AB. Engage in construction, maintenance, and inspections of power lines to ensure safe electricity supply.

This position involves maintaining and constructing electrical transmission and distribution lines with a focus on safety and reliability. As a journeyperson technician, you will also mentor apprentices, sharing your skills and knowledge. Experience variety daily while contributing to community relations and supporting the electrical team with installations and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Construct and maintain overhead power lines and substations

• Supervise compliance of contracted labor and quality

• Diagnose and troubleshoot system faults effectively

• Lead mentorship initiatives for apprentices and new staff

• Administer maintenance programs and system documentation

Requirements:

• Journeyperson Powerline Technician Certificate required

• Valid Class 5 driver’s license;
Class 1 or 3 preferred

• First Aid Certificate and training in live line techniques

• Previous troubleshooting experience preferred

• Must be prepared for after-hours standby duties
