Controller, Accounting, Financial Reporting

Description

We are looking for a Controller to lead accounting operations and provide reliable financial insight for a growing organization in Grandview, Missouri. This role will oversee core reporting activities, strengthen internal processes, and support leadership with accurate, timely information for business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, hands-on leadership experience, and a proactive approach to improving efficiency across the finance function.

Responsibilities:

- Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycle to ensure accurate results and timely completion of all accounting activities.

- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting analyses for leadership and key stakeholders.

- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger activity, reconciliations, and adherence to established controls.

- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, strengthen procedures, and improve the overall effectiveness of the accounting function.

- Manage and optimize financial processes within SAP to support accurate reporting and operational consistency.

- Partner with business leaders to interpret financial performance, address variances, and support planning initiatives.

- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements across all financial activities.

- Mentor and guide accounting staff, promoting accountability, development, and high-quality execution within the team.

Requirements - 5+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including leadership responsibility within a corporate environment.

- Demonstrated success managing month-end close and delivering accurate financial results on schedule.

- Strong background in financial reporting, including preparation and review of statements and related analysis.

- Experience driving process improvement initiatives that enhance accuracy, efficiency, or internal control.

- Proficiency with SAP and the ability to use ERP systems effectively in a complex accounting environment.

- Solid understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and best practices in accounting operations.

- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across functions.
