As a Customer Service Assistant, you will work directly with customers to process driver licensing and vehicle registration transactions while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and exceptional service.
Position SummaryUnder the supervision of the License Office Manager, the Customer Service Assistant is responsible for assisting customers with DMV‑related services, processing applications, collecting fees, maintaining records, and supporting daily office operations.
Key Responsibilities- Greet and assist customers with DMV transactions and questions
- Receive, review, and process license and registration applications
- Verify customer documentation and information for accuracy
- Issue license plates, stickers, and driver licenses
- Process payments, collect fees, and maintain accurate cash records
- Assist customers in completing forms and understanding requirements
- Take applicant photos and laminate licenses
- Maintain organized files and application records
- Run daily activity reports and complete deposit forms
- Answer phones, route calls, and relay messages professionally
- Support office operations and perform additional duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- At least one year of customer service, clerical, administrative, or cash‑handling experience
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check (including fingerprints)
- Must be current on all Personal Property and Income Taxes
- Must be able to prove legal registration for all owned vehicles (yourself and spouse if applicable)
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic math and cash‑handling skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy office environment
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word and data entry
- Ability to follow procedures and work collaboratively with staff and supervisors
Schedule may vary week to week; a schedule is created a week in advance. The schedule could be a mix of shifts and may require availability on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
The License Office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 8am-5pm;
Wednesday 8am-7pm; and Saturday 8am-12pm.
