IT Support, Systems Administrator
The City of Grandview is seeking a friendly motivated IT Support Specialist to assist with day-to-day desktop support operations. This position is responsible for providing technical support to City staff, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, setting up new workstations, and maintaining IT equipment. The ideal candidate will be a problem-solver with strong communication skills and a service-oriented mindset. This position reports to the Information Technology Manager.
Job Responsibilities (Include, but not limited to)- Provide desktop support for City employees, including setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computers, printers, phones, and other IT equipment
- Respond to employee requests in a timely and professional manner, both in-person and remotely
- Install, configure, and update software applications and operating systems
- Assist with user account management, password resets, and access permissions
- Maintain inventory records for IT hardware and software licenses
- Assist with routine network maintenance and basic troubleshooting of connectivity issues
- Assists in ensuring Information Systems’ back-up and recovery are in place. Performs back-up procedures regularly
- Set up AV equipment for meetings and events as needed
- Document technical procedures and solutions for future reference
- Collaborate with the IT Manager and other staff to implement IT projects and improvement
- Work flexible hours if necessary to accommodate City events, emergencies, or project deadlines
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in IT support, desktop support, or a similar role
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office 365, and basic networking concepts
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Must successfully pass a background and reference checks
- Experience in a public sector or municipal government environment
- Knowledge of IT security best practices
- Microsoft certifications
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer workstation or performing technical tasks
- Ability to bend, stoop, crawl, climb, and kneel as necessary to install, maintain, or troubleshoot computer and network equipment
- Perform physical tasks associated with setting up and relocating computer equipment, including lifting up to 50 pounds
- Manual dexterity to operate tools, computer keyboards, and mobile devices
- Visual acuity to read technical manuals, view computer screens, and perform detailed work
- Ability to distinguish between different colors for cable management and hardware setup
- Ability to work in confined spaces (such as under desks or in network closets) when needed
Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Some tasks may require physical effort, including lifting, moving, and installing computer equipment. May on occasion be exposed to extreme temperatures, humidity, disease, violence, and loud noises.
Pay and Benefits$23.37 - $31.55 hourly, depending on qualifications; with Paid Holidays and PTO accruals. Grandview has an excellent benefits package including L6 LAGERS pension plan, Health, Dental and Vision, Deferred Compensation and generous paid time off benefits.
