Job Description Summary

Assembles repairs, maintains, designs and fabricates parts for assembly machinery by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Construction, repair and general maintenance of assembly machinery.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special structural parts in assembly machinery.
  • Set up and operate mills, lathes, power saws, drills, grinders, sanders, welding equipment, etc.
  • Must follow all work rules and policies.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Education and/or experience:
    One to three months’ related experience and/or training. Must pass skills assessment.
  • Language skills:
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical skills:
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage and draw/interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning ability:
    Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and sit, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, squat, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 58 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to risk of electrical shock.
  • Frequently exposed to vibration.
  • Occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
  • Noise level is usually loud.
