Opportunity

Maintenance Technician responsible for ensuring continuous operation of the production facility by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing processing equipment and facilities safely, reliably, and efficiently.

Work Arrangement: 100% on-site, rotating shifts.

Base Rate: $28.68/hr – $35.99/hr.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, control circuits and PLC components.
  • Safely complete quality repairs of all equipment in the facility while minimizing downtime.
  • Identify and correct potential problems to prevent breakdowns and eliminate losses.
  • Install, troubleshoot and repair production and facility equipment throughout all areas of the plant.
  • Observe process equipment to suggest changes or modifications to improve efficiencies.
  • Train and assist production technicians in accomplishing tasks.
  • Complete all work in a safe and quality manner, ensuring policies, regulations and standards are followed.
  • Understand and follow safety procedures, including use of PPE, lock‑out/tag‑out, confined space permits and hot‑work permits.
  • Safely operate all shop equipment and power tools.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and timely, including parts inventory and work order logs.
  • Maintain a clean work area and follow Good Manufacturing Practices with quality inspections.
  • Perform welding repairs on various metal parts using TIG, MIG, oxy‑acetylene and arc welding.
  • Disassemble and rebuild mechanical components such as gearboxes, bearings, seals, sprockets, motors and pumps.
  • Perform boiler start‑up, shutdown, blowdown and chemical checks.
  • Perform start‑up and shutdown of ammonia refrigeration system and related maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively within and between teams, leads and managers.
  • Participate in Ops Excellence pillar teams and activities.
  • Complete “Step‑Up Card” skill matrices to qualify for Mechanic level/Rate of Pay.
  • Attend internal or external seminars and training to stay updated on equipment, procedures and tasks.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3–5 years experience with repair and maintenance of industrial mechanical systems.
  • Experience with electrical and process control systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Basic proficiency with mathematics for measuring materials and equipment settings.
  • Basic computer skills (Outlook email, Excel, Word).
  • Self‑motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to qualify as a key element owner of a safety system.
  • Ability to work any shift.
  • Current license to operate forklifts and aerial lifts.
  • Previous food processing or manufacturing experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to read drawings and diagrams.
  • Welding and metal fabrication skills strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures applicable to maintenance.
  • Understanding of GMPs as they relate to maintenance.
Physical Demands
  • Climb stairs and ladders, stand, move around on platforms and equipment.
  • Occasional squatting, twisting or bending at knees and back; work above shoulders (11‑33%).
  • Use hands and arms for reaching, grasping, handling and fine finger manipulation (67‑100%).
  • Maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Stand, walk, lift up to 25 lbs. (67‑100%); frequently lift up to 50 lbs. using proper techniques (34‑66%).
  • Occasionally move items of 55‑80 lbs. and up to 100 lbs. with assistance (11‑33%).
  • Wear required PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and bump caps.
  • Operate a computer to input data, review data, and communicate via email.
