JOB SUMMARY

The Materials Handler is responsible for preparing, arranging, and moving materials and products in both bulk and non-bulk forms in support of distribution or storage operations. This role involves loading and unloading equipment, materials, and products; operating or tending pipelines, pumps, and valves to transfer liquids; driving forklifts and related material-handling machinery; and using scoops, hand trucks, and wheelbarrows to load and move materials safely and efficiently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work involves most of the following:

• Preparing and arranging materials and products in bulk and non-bulk forms for distribution or storage.
• Moving, loading, and unloading equipment, materials, and products.
• Operating or tending pipelines, pumps, and valves to transfer liquids.
• Driving forklifts and related material-handling machinery and equipment.
• Using scoops, hand trucks, and wheelbarrows to load and move materials.
• Verifying quantities and condition of materials during loading, unloading, and transfer.
• Following established procedures for the safe handling and storage of materials, including any hazardous or bulk liquids.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company safety standards.
• Performing routine checks and basic upkeep of material-handling equipment and reporting malfunctions.
• Performing other materials handling duties as directed by a supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
• Prior experience operating forklifts, pumps, or other material-handling equipment preferred, but not required.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and related machinery; forklift certification a plus (or willingness to obtain).
• Basic understanding of, or ability to learn, pipeline, pump, and valve operation for liquid transfer.
• Basic math, reading, and recordkeeping skills sufficient to verify quantities and complete transfer logs.
• Strong attention to detail and awareness of safe material-handling practices.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work both independently and as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs., and occasionally more with equipment or assistance.
• Stand, walk, bend, stoop, and reach for extended periods throughout a shift.
• Safely climb, balance, and work at varying heights when loading, unloading, or accessing storage locations.
• Tolerate exposure to a warehouse or industrial environment, including variable temperatures, dust, noise, and materials being transferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is based in a warehouse, yard, or industrial facility and involves regular use of manual and powered material-handling equipment, including forklifts and liquid-transfer systems such as pipelines, pumps, and valves. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated areas. Schedule may include early, late, or weekend shifts based on operational needs.

COMPENSATION/PAY-RATE

• $20.05/hour + $5.42/hour (to go towards employer paid healthcare)
