Northern Mortgage Services Controller — Job Description
Position SummaryThe Controller oversees all financial operations, reporting, compliance, and internal controls for the company. This role ensures accurate financial results, supports leadership with timely analysis, and maintains effective financial systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead daily accounting and financial operations.
- Prepare and issue accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Review and approve financial filings and regulatory reports.
- Present financial results and insights to the President, Corporate Director, and Corporate CFO.
- Manage general ledger activity and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee accounting systems, financial software, and process improvements.
- Process bi‑weekly payroll, verify timekeeping, and ensure accurate wage calculations and reporting.
- Support timely financial processing related to loan closings and funding activities.
- Support execution of strategic business plans.
- Lead the budgeting and financial forecasting processes.
- Coordinate financial and tax strategies with the Atonne Group CFO.
- Develop KPIs and financial analysis to support company goals.
- Maintain strong internal controls and safeguard company assets.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and mortgage‑industry regulations.
- Manage external audit relationships and support audit activities.
- Report key risk issues to the President.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred).
- 7+ years of accounting/finance experience, ideally in mortgage or financial services.
- Strong GAAP knowledge and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with mortgage accounting systems (preferred).
- Office‑based role requiring extended computer use; occasional travel may be required.
