Our services range from companion and personal care to specialized support for those with chronic conditions such as Parkinsons, dementia, and Alzheimer’s.
What is a Caregiver?
As a personal caregiver you will play a critical role in the success of Senior Helpers as you will be the face of our organization on a daily basis for our clients. We are looking for team members that value the dignity of all people and are passionate about helping others age in place and live their best lives possible. You will provide professional care services to help our clients maintain their independence and to assist them with the activities of daily living and assist them with household and family support services.
This role is an hourly, non-exempt position, with a starting hourly rate of $15/hour based on applicable skills and experience and shift differentials for holidays and weekends. We are currently looking for all shifts, full and part-time, throughout western and northern Kent County.

- Provide compassionate companionship and support through engaging conversations and meaningful relationship-building.
- Participate in clients’ favorite hobbies and activities, such as playing games or working on puzzles.
- Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, and linen changes to maintain a safe and comfortable home environment.
- Prepare meals and support proper nutrition and hydration.
- Provide dignified personal care by assisting with ADLs, including bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, and medication reminders.
- Provide safe transportation, using either your own vehicle or the client’s, as appropriate.
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and social or recreational outings.
- Observe, document, and promptly report any changes in a client’s physical health, mental status, or behavior to supervisors.
- Accurately document all visits, care activities, and shift details in the organization’s homecare software, in compliance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor Alzheimer’s & Dementia client
- For any client care that requires sleep-over or live-in situations, expected to prepare sleeping area at night and assist client as needed during the course of the night.
Skills And Abilities
- Adaptability and flexibility to meet changing client needs and schedules.
- Attention to detail in observing, documenting, and reporting changes in client condition
- Strong communication skills and compassionate, dependable individuals who provide high-quality care with respect and empathy.
- Basic knowledge of personal care practices and Activities of Daily Living (ADLs).
- Understanding of infection control, hygiene practices, and safety/emergency procedures.
- Awareness of confidentiality standards (e.g., HIPAA) and commitment to client privacy.
- Knowledge of the emotional, social, and cognitive needs of aging adults and individuals with chronic conditions.
