Responsibilities
- Coordinate and monitor the personal computer (PC) replacement program for Beacon Healthcare System.
- Ensure timely delivery of PCs and related software to end‑user departments.
- Act as the primary point of contact for vendor(s) for the purchase of authorized computer equipment and software programs.
- Generate purchase orders, resolve PO and invoice issues, and record capital purchases to maintain records.
- Negotiate pricing with vendors as necessary and obtain required approvals prior to ordering.
- Install new and replacement PCs and verify that new computer systems are functioning correctly, providing basic training to end users.
- Maintain required documentation according to established departmental policies and procedures.
- Diagnose and resolve PC‑related problems, including inspecting, monitoring, testing, and coordinating corrective actions.
- Provide maintenance for hardware and software, including cleaning computer hardware and related equipment.
- Serve as a technical resource to Technical Support Specialists and other Information System staff.
- Provide excellent customer service at all times, communicating with customers and other staff in a courteous, responsive and helpful manner.
- Maintain records, reports and files as required by departmental policies and procedures.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of department facilities, equipment and supplies.
- Collaborate with other department staff on projects and special duties as directed.
- Attend and participate in department meetings, comply with mandatory education, annual competencies, employee health requirements and maintain required certifications.
- Available to work overtime and additional shifts when required.
The knowledge, skills and abilities needed are normally acquired through the successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and two to three years of related work experience. Demonstrated leadership skills are preferred.
Knowledge & Skills- In-depth knowledge of computer operations, including hardware and software.
- Understanding of Beacon Healthcare System operations and how they interact in a computerized environment.
- Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff at all levels and provide training.
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills to gather, analyze, and interpret data and resolve daily computer needs in a timely manner.
- Interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships with associates and vendors.
- Leadership, organization and detail orientation skills, ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Works in an office environment; occasionally in small, cramped areas.
- Fast‑paced environment requiring prioritization of workload to meet deadlines.
- Ability to lift, hold and carry objects weighing up to 30 pounds and use common computer hand tools.
