Full-Time Industrial Electrical Technology Faculty FULL-TIME INDUSTRIAL ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY FACULTY Job
ANNOUNCEMENT: Southwestern Illinois College is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track Industrial Electrical Technology faculty position within the Technical Education division. The anticipated start date is August 3, 2026.
POSITION
DESCRIPTION:
In accordance with the Mission and Values of Southwestern Illinois College, the position will develop, teach and maintain courses in the Industrial Electrical Technology department. Primary teaching assignments will be in Electrical Technology. The position will assess student performance and collaborate with other faculty within the department to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction in the discipline. The ideal candidate will have extensive industry experience, a passion for teaching, and the ability to inspire and prepare students for a variety of careers in the electrical field.
This role requires strong communication skills, a commitment to student success and the ability to integrate safety, theory and hands-on practice in every lesson. Opportunities exist for participation in professional development activities and service on departmental, divisional, and/or college committees.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology or related field required.
- Two years of successful college or high school teaching experience strongly preferred.
- 2,000 hours of documented work experience in Electrical, Motors, Controls or PLC outside of teaching, required.
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming and troubleshooting.
- Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and OSHA standards.
- Ability to deliver engaging lectures, demonstrations and lab instruction in electrical systems, controls, motors, PLCs, and related subjects.
- Develop, update and maintain course materials to align with current industry standards and best practices.
- Assess student learning through assignments, projects and hands‑on evaluations.
- Maintain a safe and organized lab environment that meets OSHA and institutional safety standards.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to fostering diversity, equity and inclusion in the classroom.
- Provide guidance, mentoring and career advice to students.
- Remain current on trends and advances within electrical technology.
- Prior teaching, technical training and curriculum development experience highly desirable.
