Traveling Project Manager
icon Mechanical is seeking qualified professionals to join our National Project Management team. We are a full‑service mechanical contractor specializing in construction, fabrication, installation, and service of process piping, power piping, boiler making, industrial equipment installation, ventilation, and HVAC. Our projects cover a range of industries including technology, data centers, healthcare, laboratories, pharmaceutical, automotive, and education.
Primary Responsibilities- Managing and coordinating mechanical construction projects from conception to completion.
- Coordinating and communicating with the engineering, VDC/BIM designers, scheduler, field foremen, customers, and subcontractors to lead all project team members.
- Ordering materials and equipment, issuing subcontracts, developing billings, and managing RFIs and change orders while preparing and reviewing submittals.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of general conditions, scopes, and specifications of project contracts/subcontracts.
- Overseeing the preparation of fabrication shop work packages and evaluating detail drawings, material take‑off, buyout, and fabrication budget.
- Collaborating with the Safety Department to analyze, manage, and mitigate project risks and ensure safety compliance on jobsites.
- Planning ahead to prevent problems and resolving emerging issues proactively.
- Ensuring contractual performance conditions are met.
- 1-3+ years of experience as a Mechanical Project Manager or in a similar role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or proven experience in Construction Management.
- Knowledge of HVAC and piping systems, building products, construction details, design, and applicable regulations.
- Familiarity with construction management software packages and strong computer skills.
- Proficient in Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Self‑motivated with excellent time and project management skills.
- Strong personal commitment to long‑term, meaningful goals.
- Ability to work in a deadline‑driven environment while multi‑tasking with changing priorities.
- Confidence in knowledge and willingness to research solutions when needed.
- Work 6 days a week with 10‑hour shifts.
- Be on site for the duration of the project.
- Travel home every 3‑4 weeks for 2‑3 days.
