We are currently looking for a Design Support Specialist to join our Design Operations team located at our headquarters in Granite City, IL.. Our ideal candidate for this position will have 3+ years of experience in project management or a designer role within mechanical design, engineering or construction industries. In this role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of mechanical design and engineering projects.

This role serves as the primary point of contact between the Construction Team and the internal project design team, coordinating resources, schedules, and deliverables to ensure successful project outcomes. Design Support Specialists work closely with the VDC, Engineering, and Commissioning teams to align project scope with production capacity and delivery timelines.

Primary responsibilities for iENG’s Design Support Specialisti nclude:

• Assisting with project setup, documentation management, schedule coordination, and meeting preparation.
• Preparing and maintain detailed project work plans, including task assignments and due dates for internal teams
• Scheduling and facilitate meetings with the project teams to determine fabrication plans prior to spooling and detailing
• Coordinating with VDC, engineering, and commissioning teams to develop project schedules, assign tasks, and monitor progress against project milestones.
• Managing third-party resources, to ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, and execution strategy.
• Facilitating project design meetings, design reviews, and coordination meetings with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
• Managing iENG project documentation including scope deliverables and design logs.
• Proactively identifying project risks.

Primary qualifications for iENG’s Design Support Specialist include:

• 3+ years experience in project management, VDC, or engineering within the mechanical construction industry.
• Working knowledge of mechanical systems, MEP design workflows, and construction document sets.
• Experience with project management tools and BIM/VDC environments.
• Willing to travel on an as needed basis.
• Ability to interpret and identify potential problems or risks and come up with creative solutions.
