Quality Intern

We are currently looking for an intern to join our Quality team located at our headquarters in Granite City, IL
. Our ideal candidate for a Quality Intern is someone who will be in their sophomore or junior year with either a Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related degree.

Primary responsibilities for icon’s Quality Intern include:
  • Assisting in performing inspections, audits, and tests on mechanical systems such as HVAC, Piping, and Plumbing to verify adherence to design specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Supporting the team in conducting dimensional verifications and visual inspections on welded and other mechanical joints.
  • Collaborating with the Quality Management team, Project Managers, Engineers, and construction personnel to learn about quality matters and offer assistance.
  • Helping review project documentation, including plans, specifications, and submissions, to ensure they meet quality requirements.
  • Maintaining records of quality control measures, including inspection reports, testing outcomes, quality assurance checklists, and certifications for assigned projects. Ensuring documentation is accessible and well-organized for reference.
  • Assisting in overseeing pressure tests on piping and ductwork to certify system integrity and compliance with safety and quality benchmarks.
  • Engaging with subcontractors and external inspection entities to synchronize inspection and testing efforts, ensuring consistent quality control across all operations.
Primary qualifications for icon’s Quality Intern include:
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree for Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar degree.
  • Currently a sophomore or junior in college.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time and communication skills
  • Possesses a strong personal commitment for long-term and meaningful goals.
  • Ability to work within an environment with deadlines while having to multi-task with changing priorities.
  • Demonstrates confidence in their working knowledge and is committed to researching/asking for the answers to find the right solutions for things they do not know.
  • Occasional travel may be required to support team initiatives, attend events, or engage with partners.
Work hours and compensation for icon's Quality Intern include:
  • Compensation: $21/hour
  • Work hours: Full-Time (40 hrs/week) with a flexible start and end date.
