VDC Department Opportunity: VDC Specialist – Mechanical Pipe
iENG Design is seeking a qualified professional to join our Virtual Design Construction (VDC) team. iENG’s method of engineering is unique: we begin with the end in mind and challenge everything. We are currently looking for a VDC Specialist to join our VDC department located at our offices in Granite City, IL. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience with mechanical pipe design and fabrication and will support the VDC team by creating, managing, and coordinating 3‑D models and drawings for mechanical piping systems.
Primary Responsibilities- Generating deliverables such as spool drawings/maps, installation drawings, and hanger maps.
- Collaborating with engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure accurate and efficient integration of piping systems within the overall building model.
- Designing and modeling piping systems based on P&IDs and existing models.
- Providing technical support to project teams by troubleshooting VDC‑related issues and assisting with model revisions as needed.
- Developing hanger and supplemental steel layout and fabrication plans.
- Supporting the field and shop through the project lifecycle.
- Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of modeling and design work, adhering to project specifications and standards.
- An associate’s degree in applied science and/or equivalent relevant experience in CAD drafting, engineering, construction management, or a similar field is preferred.
- Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, BIM
360, Microsoft Teams, and Planner. Overall strong computer skills are expected. - 5+ years of experience in mechanical piping design, VDC, or a related field.
- Willing to travel as needed.
- Ability to work within environments with deadlines and to maintain attention to detail on multiple tasks.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work well with both a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interpret and identify potential problems or risks and to develop creative solutions.
- Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000
