Position Summary

The Relationship Banker II combines expertise in customer service, sales, and operational management at an elevated skill level within the banking team. The role requires deeper knowledge and expertise in banking products, customer service, and operational processes. The Relationship Banker II is expected to handle more complex transactions, provide guidance to less experienced staff, build customer relationships, and promote the bank’s services.

Duties & Responsibilities Customer Service & Relationship Management
  • Travel between Metro East and South Market locations—Belleville, Collinsville, Downtown St. Louis, Fairmont City, Granite City, South Grand, and Swansea—as needed.
  • Greet and engage customers in a friendly and professional manner, building lasting relationships.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for customers, ensuring the highest level of service.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships through personalized service and proactive outreach, assisting with routine and complex banking needs.
  • Provide guidance to customers on financial products and services that best meet their needs.
Sales & Cross‑Selling
  • Actively identify and promote all bank products and services.
  • Ask targeted questions to learn about customers’ financial needs and goals.
  • Meet and exceed monthly sales and referral goals by assessing needs and recommending suitable banking solutions.
  • Proactively refer customers to other lines of business such as mortgage, wealth, treasury, and commercial.
Account Management and Support
  • Open and manage personal and business accounts, ensuring accurate account setup and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with account maintenance, including updating information, processing transfers, and issuing check orders.
  • Support customers with online and mobile banking services, ensuring proficiency with digital tools.
Loan & Credit Processing
  • Process and assist with customer loan applications, including personal loans and home equity lines of credit.
  • Conduct initial loan screenings, gather documentation, and collaborate with loan officers to ensure a smooth approval process.
  • Educate customers on loan products, eligibility requirements, and loan terms.
Transactions & Cash Handling
  • Process transactions with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Balance cash drawer and record transactions accurately.
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and detect suspicious or potentially fraudulent activity, escalating issues appropriately.
  • Adhere to privacy regulations and secure customer data confidentially.
Team Support and Mentorship
  • Assist newer staff by providing guidance on bank products, customer service skills, and operational procedures.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment by sharing knowledge and supporting day‑to‑day operational needs.
Branch Operations & Administrative Support
  • Assist with daily branch operational tasks—balancing cash, managing supplies, and supporting opening and closing procedures.
  • Support branch leadership in maintaining security and operational efficiency.
Education & Experience
  • High School diploma required.
  • 2 years of banking experience with lending responsibilities.
  • 1 year of prior training or combination of mentorship, military, or management experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • For Relationship Bankers handling lending, maintain current registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) as required by the SAFE Act.
Key Knowledge and Abilities
  • Strong sales and customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Basic math and accounting functions.
  • Understanding of lending fundamentals and financial assessment.
  • Accurately count money; make decisions under time pressure.
  • Stand extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Explain products and services to current and prospective customers.
  • Participate in cross‑selling initiatives with Banking Center leadership and other lines of business.
Benefits and Compensation

Salary is based on duties, qualifications, and local market trends. Eligible for bonus or incentives based on performance.

Base Pay Range: $19.75–$22.50 per hour.
