Hire Level is seeking Structural Steel Fit Welders for our client in Granite City, IL
. Our client is a leader in the industry of steel fabrication with a management team with over 30 years experience.

Structural Steel Fit Welder

Job Type: Full‑time, Contract to Hire

Location:

Granite City, IL

Hours:

Monday - Friday | 6:00 am-2:30 pm (with some overtime)

Rate of Pay:
Up to $25/hour, depending on testing

• Accurately layout & fit up of steel per shop drawings
• Properly set up welding machine/wire feeder for welding and adjust setting as required
• Verify and ensure fit up complies with plans and codes, AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8
• Ability to read and properly interpret shop drawings
• Perform clean tack welds with no inclusions, undercut, porosity
• Cleaning of all slag/splatter from welds and surrounding area
• Ensure equipment used is properly maintained/stored during & after use

• Must have prior background using Fluxcore 1/16th with CO2
• 1 year experience in welding
• Must be able to produce clean sound welds with minimal cleanup in a timely manner
• Must be able to work well with others
• Must be a self‑starter
• Must be safety‑orientated
