Gateway Regional Medical Center is seeking a compassionate and clinically strong Registered Nurse to join our Medical/Surgical team on nights.
This is an opportunity for an experienced acute-care nurse who values teamwork, meaningful patient relationships, and a supportive hospital environment. What You’ll Do- Provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based nursing care to medical/surgical patients throughout the continuum of care.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify changes in patient condition.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.
- Monitor patient responses to medications, treatments, and interventions and communicate significant changes promptly.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, including escalating concerns when necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians and members of the interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, discharge instructions, and ongoing care needs.
- Promote patient safety, fall prevention, infection prevention, and other quality and safety initiatives.
- Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Participate in admission, transfer, discharge, and transition-of-care processes.
- Prioritize and organize care effectively in a fast-paced medical/surgical environment.
- Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and collaborative team culture.
- Participate in quality improvement and professional development activities.
- Perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Illinois.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Ability to successfully complete required hospital orientation and competency requirements.
- Previous medical/surgical, acute-care, or hospital nursing experience.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Experience caring for patients with multiple medical diagnoses and complex care needs.
- Strong clinical assessment, prioritization, and critical-thinking skills.
New graduate RNs may be considered. Experienced acute-care RNs are strongly encouraged to apply.

Final compensation is determined based on relevant nursing experience, education, certifications, clinical skills, and other job-related qualifications in accordance with Gateway Regional Medical Center's compensation practices.
