Operations Team Leader

Job Title

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, but not intended to be an all inclusive list. Other duties may be assigned. Monitors and directs work activities within areas of responsibility, ensuring work is performed in a safe and efficient manner and that areas of responsibility are maintained in a neat and orderly condition. Ensures compliance with company plant and safety rules.

Plans operations, establishes priorities and sequences for shift activities. Coordinates production activities with other departments and personnel as necessary to maximize operations in a safe and environmentally compliant manner, within budget and according to customer needs. Champions and leads their team in the Sun Coke Visible Safety Program including Safety Improvement Plans, 5S, Field Safety Hazard Identification, & Safety Observations.

Participate in safety incident investigations as required, including reporting incidents to appropriate personnel, completing required documentation, recommending and implementing corrective actions, and communicating findings as appropriate. Maintains compliance with appropriate federal, State and local safety and/or environmental regulations, reports and notifies appropriate plant personnel of any deviations per established standards; maintains appropriate records and reports as required by regulations. Trains and coaches team members in Standard Operating Procedure development, Job Safety Analyses, safe work practices, and hazard recognition.

Coaches and encourages professional development and growth of skills and abilities. Works effectively with team members at all levels of the organization within areas of responsibility, consulting with HR, Department Manager, corporate resources or other parties as necessary Participates in shift change activities including but not limited to communicating problems, issues, etc. with appropriate personnel, keeping supervisor apprised of such, completing appropriate documentation, logs, etc.;

maintaining responsibility for operating area until properly relieved of duty by shift personnel or other authorized personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.
