Mechanical Maintenance Technician
This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a wide range of mechanical systems and industrial equipment in a plant environment. You will support safe and reliable operations by performing preventive and corrective maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, power transmission systems, conveyors, cranes, and mobile equipment, while working independently or as part of a maintenance team on rotating shifts.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and equipment, including hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and power transmission systems.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on conveyors, cranes, gearboxes, and mobile equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using systematic troubleshooting methods and implement effective repairs in a timely manner.
- Assist with operating functions as needed to support production and plant operations.
- Carry out welding, fabrication, pipe fitting, structural repair, and related industrial maintenance tasks as required.
- Perform electrical and mechanical repair tasks, including basic electrical maintenance and PLC troubleshooting within scope of training and qualifications.
- Work at heights and in confined spaces when required, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with other maintenance technicians.
- Move between various areas of the plant to respond to maintenance needs in environments that may be hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy.
- Follow established preventive maintenance schedules and document maintenance activities accurately and promptly.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines at all times, including the proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrate punctuality, consistent attendance, and strong self-direction to support continuous operations.
- Work 8-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and perform overtime work as needed to meet operational requirements.
- Minimum of 1 year manufacturing and/or industrial experience (including relevant experience gained in military service) or equivalent education.
- Hands-on experience with hydraulic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Hands-on experience with pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
- Experience with lubrication systems and power transmission systems in an industrial environment.
- Mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills as a primary strength for this role.
- Experience with industrial maintenance, including preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Ability to perform maintenance repair on conveyors, cranes, gearboxes, and mobile equipment.
- Experience with welding and basic fabrication work.
- Experience with pipe fitting and structural repair in an industrial setting.
- Basic electrical maintenance skills, including electrical repair and troubleshooting.
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting at a maintenance level.
- High School Diploma or equivalent education.
- Ability to pass a Ramsey test prior to hire.
- Ability to work 8-hour rotating shifts, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
- Ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces while following safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a maintenance team.
- Strong commitment to safety, including consistent adherence to safety procedures and use of required protective equipment.
- Experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience in diesel mechanics or similar heavy equipment maintenance.
- Exposure to industrial troubleshooting across mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and lubrication systems.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and maintenance documentation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, maintenance procedures, and equipment specifications.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues under time constraints.
- Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and self-motivation in a shift-based work environment.
