Compensation: $19.54 - $24.75 per hour (Step 1 through 9, dependent on prior contracted educational experience)

Job DescriptionThe Life Skills Education Assistant (also known as a Para-Professional) works under the direction of a certified teacher to help students with disabilities. This role involves observing classes, assisting with lesson delivery, setting up equipment and activities, and supporting students throughout the school day.
Responsibilities- Assist the certified teacher in conducting lessons, setting up equipment, and managing classroom activities.
- Monitor and supervise special needs students during class, transitions, and lunch in small groups or one‑on‑one settings.
- Use flexibility and initiative to encourage and nurture student development.
- Enforce behavior standards and provide discipline with dignity.
- Perform tasks that require physical effort, such as standing, walking, sitting, moving, lifting, or restraining students.
- Assist students with toileting routines and related needs.
- Help feed students during meal times, including assisting with tube feeding when necessary.
- Provide medical support or intervention as required.
- Meet the standards set for a Life Skills Educational Assistant (Para-Professional).
- Ability to work under the direction of a certified teacher.
- Independent monitoring and supervision of special needs students.
- Patience and ability to enforce good behavior.
- Physical stamina for standing, walking, lifting, and restraining tasks.
- Two (2) years of college coursework or an Associate’s Degree (may be waived after a skills test).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Fingerprinting clearance.
