The Assistant Principal/Athletic Director is the leader of the school, responsible for building a positive climate and culture that welcomes all students, staff, and community members. Using leadership skills, the Administrator promotes the educational development of each student and supports staff while ensuring day‑to‑day operations are met. Decision making is collaborative, employing an equity lens. The Administrator must be familiar with state and federal law, district policies, collective bargaining agreements, and use independent judgment in matters not governed by established rules.
In addition to administrative duties, the Assistant Principal supports the high school administrative team with student discipline, teacher observation and evaluation, the PLC process, curriculum implementation, and instructional practices. The role also oversees the athletic and extracurricular programs, managing budgets, hiring coaching staff, and complying with all state athletic requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment.
- Lead and promote educational equity, ensuring every student receives required resources, opportunity, treatment, and access.
- Develop and implement an annual school improvement plan and equity plan aligned with district values.
- Lead staff in adapting courses of study and school programs to meet district, school, and state curriculum requirements.
- Facilitate teacher participation in instructional research, budgeting, and program deliberations.
- Provide guidance and support to teachers and staff, maintaining open communication with students, parents, and community members.
- Ensure student and staff safety, protecting citizens and property.
- Prepare and submit the school’s budgetary requests; monitor expenditures and maintain the master schedule.
- Recruit, screen, train, assign, and evaluate all school personnel under supervision, including initial employment and continued employment decisions.
- Participate in district‑provided professional development and serve on district committees as requested.
- Valid State of Oregon Administrative License issued by TSPC.
- Master’s degree, preferred with emphasis in education.
- Previous, successful experience in K‑12 public education.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Effective communication with students, parents, and diverse school personnel.
- Collaborative teamwork skills.
- Proficient oral and written communication.
- Proficient in computer and internet‑based application systems.
- Ability to learn new automated systems as introduced by the district.
- Experience leading Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
- Oregon Administrative License required for this position.
- 1.0 FTE; 220 days per year.
- Salary range: $115,241 – $136,984.
