JOB SUMMARYThis position provides instructional services for elementary students in a classroom setting. The teacher promotes successful learning, follows district policies, maintains student discipline, and collaborates with staff, parents, and students to support academic achievement.
QUALIFICATIONS- A valid Oregon teaching license with the Elementary endorsement.
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Effective communication with students, parents and school personnel from diverse cultures.
- Proficient oral and written communication in at least one language; two languages preferred.
- Proficient computer and internet application skills (email, Google Suite).
- Ability to learn new systems as they are introduced by the district.
- Maintain integrity of confidential information.
- Bilingual and biliterate candidates encouraged.
- Model a respectful learning environment.
- Pass required online trainings, CPR/First Aid annually.
- Maintain current licenses and certifications.
- Follow district policies and state/federal laws applicable to public school teachers.
- Build relationships with students, families, and staff.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to effective learning and high achievement.
- Plan a program of study that meets individual student needs and interests; select curriculum and instructional materials.
- Design and implement instruction aligned with the district curriculum and state standards.
- Organize instruction using clear learning objectives and student outcomes.
- Select teaching strategies that emphasize student involvement and engagement.
- Develop clear classroom behavioral expectations.
- Prepare report cards and progress reports; conduct conferences with students, parents, guardians, and staff; maintain open communication.
- Collaborate with staff on instructional goals and curriculum (e.g., PLC, Site Council).
- Take precautions to ensure health, safety, and protection of equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Participate in district professional development.
- Attend work regularly, be punctual, and cover for staff as needed.
May supervise educational assistants and/or teacher aides.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSRequires walking, standing, sitting, fine hand manipulation, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, and vision capabilities. Reasonable accommodations are available.
