Part-Time Sociology Instructor
This is an adjunct faculty pool for teaching in the Social Science department. The pool will remain open until June 2026 unless positions are no longer needed. Applications will be reviewed and candidates will be contacted and interviewed as positions become available. If at any time you decide that you are no longer interested in being considered, you may log in to the system and withdraw your application from the pool.
Typically, at the end of the academic year (or at any point we no longer have a hiring need for this department), we will close this pool and you will receive an email notification.

We are currently seeking a part-time Sociology Instructor to cultivate a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and academic backgrounds.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about collaborating to enhance student success, creating interactive learning experiences, and fostering a supportive learning environment that inspires students' critical thinking. Specifically, we are looking for an instructor to teach:
- Race and Ethnicity in the U.S. in person
- and/or Introduction to Criminology online
- and/or Juvenile Delinquency online
The instructor is responsible for the planning and implementation of various sociology courses. Instructor is required to create a course syllabus, instruct students in the subject matter in accordance with that syllabus, maintain attendance records, assess student progress and evaluate course work for a letter grade. Instructor will maintain college standards in all aspects of professionalism, record keeping and instruction within the team atmosphere of the social science department of Rogue Community College.
Examplesof Duties - Essential Functions
Education: A Master's Degree in Sociology or related field is required. Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 34 8.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.
Ability to: Communicate effectively, inclusively, interactively, engagingly, and respectfully with diverse students, staff, and community members; demonstrate experience or potential for innovation and creativity in both the classroom and in online; demonstrate a commitment to professional standards and growth. Pass a criminal background check.
Knowledge of: current trends in sociological subjects being taught. Computer applications for communication and learning, including, but not limited to, word processing, the Internet, multi-media presentations, spreadsheets and database management. Curriculum development; the community colleges' mission, role in higher education, and student population; and best practices for culturally responsive teaching.
