Police Officer

Key Responsibilities
  • Protect and serve the community as a member of the Grants Pass Police Department.
  • Work rotating shifts including days, nights and weekends.
  • Perform duties in patrol, motors (traffic), detectives, K‑9 and school resource officer units.
  • Respond to high call volume in a fast‑paced environment.
Salary and Incentive Pay

Base Salary: $70,575 to $95,776 annually.

  • Associate Degree: 2.5%
  • Bachelor's degree: 5%
  • Second language: 1.25%
  • DPSST Intermediate Certificate: 2.5%
  • DPSST Advanced Certificate: 3.0%

Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduation from High School or GED and 1 year of work experience.
  • Must be 21 years of age at time of hire.
  • Meet physical standards set by the Department of Public Safety on Standards and Training (DPSST).
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain an Oregon Class C Driver’s License within 30 days of employment.
  • DPSST Basic Police Certificate within 12 months of employment.
  • Law Enforcement Data System Certificate within 60 days of assignment.
  • Residence within forty‑five (45) minutes from City limits as it exists within the Urban Growth Boundary (UGB).
  • Pass ORPAT (physical ability) and firearms requirements prior to graduation at the Oregon DPSST Police Academy.
