Essential DutiesUnder the general supervision of the ROM, the Patient Service Technician is responsible for the delivery, set‑up, patient education, and pick‑up of Durable Medical Equipment. The technician must maintain organized delivery/pick‑up tickets along with updated Delivery Track on all deliveries.
Responsibilities- Reports to work daily and is ready to work at the scheduled start time
- Must wear all safety equipment (e.g., back support and steel‑toed shoes)
- Works on‑call assignments as needed or scheduled on Saturdays
- Provides CPAP, Pulse Ox, mask fitting, and other oxygen/DME equipment under supervision of a Respiratory Therapist
- Completes the initial Respironics/Res Med training program including annual competency assessment
- Provides patient education as part of the patient care activity according to the patient’s needs
- Delivers respiratory, medical equipment, and supplies to patients or clients
- Maintains current and updated knowledge of respiratory and home care equipment
- Performs equipment set‑ups in a timely and professional manner
- Presents Rick’s Medical Supply/Super Care through professional personal appearance and patient care activities
- Completes delivery and pick‑up paperwork promptly and accurately, ensuring all serial numbers are listed and all paperwork is scanned into the system
- Assists in pulling equipment and supplies from the warehouse as ordered on patient delivery tickets
- Loads equipment, oxygen systems, and related supplies into a delivery vehicle
- Is familiar with all applicable laws and regulations pertaining to respiratory equipment setup
- Manages all orders on route sheets and Delivery Track, delivering via company vehicle; ensures equipment meets the given ETA
- Communicates with dispatch or patients if ETA cannot be met
- Adds necessary notes into Delivery Track regarding the type of delivery
- Works with patients to solve a variety of problems, acting as a company field representative (e.g., reverse demonstration process)
- Identifies and labels contaminated equipment for return to the location
- Follows company policy/procedure on picking up contaminated labeled equipment
- Bags equipment in a bag, transfers it back to the location, and unloads it into the “Dirty” quarantine area
- Attempts to successfully pick up rental equipment and follows policies for equipment return
- Ensures all returned/picked up equipment is placed in the proper area with pickup order attached
- Completes a physical inspection of vehicles and documents daily
- Promotes teamwork among team members and assists other locations as needed
- Performs warehouse and office maintenance tasks as required
- Performs any other duties as requested by Supervisor or Management
- Understands and adheres to all company policies
- Stays knowledgeable and current on all products
- Maintains a professional, safe, and clean work environment and vehicle
- Adheres to varying start times and on‑call schedules, including rotational holidays, weekdays, and weekends
- Possesses fundamental computer skills
- Travels extensively via company vehicle to patients’ homes for set‑ups and recurring deliveries
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid driver’s license
- DOT certification (optional)
- Graduate from an accredited high school or college
- Team player and able to work collaboratively
