Description
The Shear Operator is responsible for cutting sheet materials to specified dimensions using shear equipment to support production needs. This role ensures materials are cut accurately, safely, and efficiently in accordance with work instructions and quality standards. The position requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Set up and operate shear machines to cut materials to required sizes and specifications
- Read and interpret work orders, cut sheets, and drawings
- Measure and mark materials to ensure accuracy prior to cutting
- Verify dimensions and tolerances using measuring tools such as tape measures, calipers, and gauges
- Inspect materials and finished cuts for quality and defects
- Maintain proper material handling and organization to minimize waste
- Follow production schedules and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area - Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
